EVALUATION AND / OR AUDIT OF MAO SYSTEMS

BEST PRACTICE AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT FOCUS

audit

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) approves logistics companies, exporters, and produce packhouses, with suitably qualified staff, to carry out pre-export phytosanitary services. MPI calls these organisations Ministry Approved Organisations (MAO).

To become an MAO, you have to write an Operating System that meets the Plant Export Requirements. An IVA, such as The AgriChain Centre, evaluates and audits your Operating System before recommending it to MPI for approval

Following initial MPI approval, regular surveillance audits will be carried out by the IVA during the organization operating season.

Existing MAOs can also transfer to a different IVA as set on the Organisation Standard.

You need to meet certain conditions to become an MAO. You can find these on the MPI website; the Plant Export Certification Standards.

The AgriChain Centre provides phytosanitary auditing services that are:

  • As an ISO17020 accredited inspection body, impartiality and confidentiality are a must.
  • Focused on continuous improvement. We don’t approach audits simply as a pass or fail exercise. We’d like to add value to organizations by continuously improving.
  • Solution oriented. Our knowledgeable technical staff is available to guide you through the process and advise you on the best solutions to your needs – we are just a phone call/email away!
  • Horticulture specific. Our deep understanding of the fresh produce industry, and how it operates means we are able to adapt to the uniqueness of every organization.

Organisation Transfer to another IVA is described in the Standard, because you can transfer to another IVA.

MPI provides a list of IVAs on its website.

To start the transfer of your MAO to The AgriChain Centre, as your new IVA, please read that section of the Standard and give us a call.  We are always happy to hear from you.
